How to Harness the Power of Self Actualization for Healing

A person’s mind is one of the most powerful tools to harness in recovery. Self-actualization is the ability to tap into personal truths and power which go deeper than surface level to empower and build strength for the journey of life. Learn how to harness the power of self actualization to help heal old wounds and realize one’s own potential.

What is Self Actualization

The power of self actualization lies in manifesting the creative power of the subconscious mind by directing future activities. Think of it as imagining limitless possibilities where anything can happen, regardless of the past. Sports, physical abilities, relationships, finances and other areas of one’s life can experience roadblocks which show up as resistance to change. Harnessing the power of one’s subconscious mind begins by reprogramming a person’s mind to get rid of toxic thinking and heal wounds of the past to free up space for the future to happen.

Noise, Noise, Noise

The human mind is a complex place with lots of activity happening every second of the day. A person’s cognitive and rational thinking processes happen in the brain including awareness, sorting of information and drawing conclusions based on what is seen, heard or experienced. The conscious mind does not stop which can lead to cluttered noise and chatter. Once a person learns to rein in the noise and quiet extraneous chatter, it is possible to find some peace and rest in the present to prepare future goals.

The Subconscious

The subconscious is what lies quietly beneath the surface. Some aspects of the subconscious include:

  • Dreams
  • Emotions
  • Ideas
  • Imagination

The subconscious mind holds perceptions and beliefs of how people think and see the world operating from a personal viewpoint. Such perceptions may be wonderful or painful.  There is little evaluation or judgment in the subconscious. Whatever lies in the subconscious may manifest in a person’s life without conscious realization of why it is happening.

Harness the Power of the Mind

Past behavior which caused hurt which happened to or because of an individual can create suffering. The best way to harness the power of the mind in moving forward is letting go. To get started, this can include:

  • Acknowledging harm done to others or self
  • Accept personal responsibility where necessary
  • Offer forgiveness to self and others
  • Let go

The four steps above take time but can provide a great deal of healing. The mind will retain memories but it is not necessary for the memories to hold power over a person’s life for eternity. Once a person focuses on positive exercises such as those listed above, it is possible to start letting go of past hurts to focus on the present and then move forward into the future with a positive outlook on what’s possible.
